This is my new project… the yarn’s soooo soft and rather difficult to work with.  That’s why I stopped after 3 rows… heh

I should be working on this…

But I left it at work on Monday and keep forgetting to bring it home. Sorry, girls… I’m a tad behind. I’m still on my first patch… and it’s measuring at 5.5″ the last time I checked. urgh. (Background info: some of us girls are attempting to knit a baby blanket for a friend / expecting mother. Correct me if I’m wrong… but our plan’s to knit 6 patches each and somehow we’ll put them (24 patches in total) together into a baby blanket… before the baby starts to walk?)

Scarf for a giant Wednesday, January 31, 2007

   Took me 3 nights to finish this purple scarf.  I’m thinking of sending it over to Kyooka, my cousin in Tokyo.  So, if you see a girl wearing this in the streets of Japan… go up to her and say, “yo, anata-no itoko-wa hotto desu~!” 

Hmmm… I wonder how tall Kyooka is now… ‘coz this scarf is 12 foot long… haha 

Grandma’s Hands Monday, January 29, 2007

It’s been 7 weeks since I’ve been back from my Asia trip and I still haven’t had time to sort out all my pictures. Yes, I printed some of my pictures out… just 1,200 of them. So far, I’ve put all my Japan pictures into 2 albums… still have HK and Beijing to work through.

In the meantime, I thought I’d share some of my favourite pictures with you guys on here.

A quick way to pick myself up when having a bad day is to go hold a baby. 

I just went out to get me some baby love and got more than what I had wanted.  I was holding a 6 month old babygirl, rocking her back & forth… then all of a sudden, I felt something warm coming down my left arm.  Yup, she puked on me.  Someone needs to make a diaper for that end! 

Great, I’m gonna smell like baby puke for the rest of the day.

Asylum Friday, January 26, 2007

Initially, I had wanted to name this blog “the padded room”.  But I felt that a room is too enclosed and that a lounge would be more welcoming.  And why padded?  Mostly because I need a place where I can scream and pound my head against the wall… so it’d be nice if the place was padded & soundproof.  Now, I think an Asylum would be more suitable – a place that provides care and shelter… for the physically and mentally challenged – yes, that would be ME.

Unfortunately, I don’t feel that I can be totally open and share what’s on my mind here.  A lot of what I need is to have a place where I can vent and debrief on the things I see or experience at work.  However, because of client confidentiality, I can’t really divulge too much info on here. 

Like this morning, I learnt that one of our clients was confined and sexually assaulted by a neighbour the last couple of days.  She was tied up and was injected with things she’s “not familiar with”.  We saw her just yesterday… she wasn’t in good shape… but because that’s how she looks usually, no one questioned it. 

Sometimes I wish I can be numb to all these things… but at the same time, I wonder if I’d still want to do what I do… if I don’t feel what I feel…

Anniversary Thursday, January 25, 2007

Yesterday (1/23) was the one year anniversary of my first tattoo, which brings up a mixture of emotions.

What did I do to commenorate it?
I applied extra lotion on it… and without thinking, I said “Happy Birthday” to it. ?!

Extremely long day at work today – emotionally draining, as always. Was in a 9 1/2 HOUR staff meeting!

At the end of the day, a co-worker said: “We have some wicked sense of humour. ‘Coz if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry…”

How true. If I don’t laugh… I cry.

Unfortunately, laughs are too few and far between. -_-
