I just went into our drop-in area and saw one of our closed clients. Haven’t seen her for awhile, in fact, the last time I saw her was well over 5 weeks ago on East Hastings… hanging out with some dealers.
But just now, I saw her lying on the couch with her babyboy sleeping peacefully on her chest. (Her babyboy has not seen her for a number of weeks either.) My eyes welled up with tears immediately… it was such a beautiful moment but I was sad at the same time… the boy’s old enough to notice his Mom’s absences.
I wanted to run back to my office to grab my camera. But the Mom looked pretty roughed up. She probably wouldn’t want her picture taken…

Update from 5 mins later: Against my better judgement, I went & took a couple of pictures of them. My co-worker said it was a good idea… if she doesn’t like the pictures, we can easily delete them. Everyone was going “aww… how sweet” when I snapped the pictures… (wish I can share the pictures with you all… but that darn client confidentiality thing…) ^_~
