Baking Soda Sunday, March 4, 2007

I bought a big box (1 kg) of baking soda a couple of days ago ‘coz I heard that baking soda is great for baths as it helps remove dead skin cells… therefore, leaving your skin soft and smooth.

After spending Friday cleaning my room, I thought I should take the time to clean (detox) myself as well.  I’m not ready for another 30-day cleanse, which involves starving myself for a day or two per week and a shake a day.  So I thought a quick way for me to detox is give myself a hot hot bath.

I threw in approx. 2 cups of epsom salt, which draws out toxins from the body and helps relax muscles and 2 cups of baking soda.  The box calls for 1/2 cup for the bath… but I felt very generous yesterday… heh  and well, I needed all the help I can get!

Ahhhh, simply delicious.

I curled up into the fetal position in the tub and almost fell asleep.

Last night, I thought “hmmm, the baking soda in the bath made my skin really soft… so what if I use that as a mask or scrub for my face?”

STUPID STUPID idea!

My face became really sensitive and turned all red like a cooked lobster!  Before I can grab my face-cloth, my face was already burning!!  So, I immediately washed my face with water.  Afterward, my face still felt soapy.  So, I thought I’d use my toner… non-alcoholic toner!  BUT it got worst.  I was nearly in tears… !

Baking soda bath – ooohhhh YES!

Baking soda face scrub – HECK NOOOO!

Oh no, Mar! Well, knowing you, I’m sure you’ve found stylin’ clothes that will complement your red face so well, people will think you did that to your face on purpose. Hee, hee! I hope you’ll feel better soon. You’re still gorgeous!

hahaha Thanks for the info, Martie!! I’d never have thought to use baking soda to scrub my face. But you do have a point! If it works so well with the rest of your body….why not the face?! hehehe ohhhh, I just did a quick search on the net about baking soda…..apparently, they recommend it for face scrub too….GENTLE face scrub!! Maybe your face is just too sensitive…hehe

I sometimes use epsom salt in my baths too. I go to Costco and buy tubs of it. hehe Good stuff!

Hope your face is better by now! :)

My ex used to drag me to Costco to buy tubs of epsom salt too! Took me awhile to figure out what it’s for! lol

I should email my ex and tell her that she can use baking soda as a face scrub! bwahahahaha

    Hey Sunshine!

A bath sounds good…..but it’s just not a very masculine thing to do. Can you imagine Dru in a bubblebath & showercap? lol

    Hey lovemuffin! *winks at Ryan*

yo Sweetcheeks! *pinches Ryan & Dru*

I was taught to throw a cup of baking soda in with my laundry (especially whites). Sometimes I even toss in some sugar and flour. After 40 mins of hi-heat gentle cycle, sprinkle some choco chips on top and you’ll get some fabulous muffins!
